I played the game of basketball for about 20 years. I played in high school as well as briefly in college before suffering an injury that prevented me from continuing. Because of my love for the game I decided to take up coaching and was a high school varsity assistant for 7 years and during that tenure acted as the Head Coach on several occasions. During the seven years I was coaching our staff completely turned around the program and coached the team to it's first conference championship in 51 years.
4 years into coaching High school varsity I began doing personal training for groups and individuals privately. My clients range from 5 years old to professional athletes. I love working with all ages for different reasons. I love working with younger children because I view them as a blank canvas and it's a wonderful opportunity to instill the fundamentals of the game, something often ignored. After instilling the fundamentals into their game it's always exciting to build on that as they mature and as their bodies mature and their athleticism kicks in. The older athletes are just as exciting to work with because taking bad habits and fixing them and improving on good habits is almost an art form to me. It requires a keen attention to details and I often get to design unconventional methods that challenge the athlete while at the same time arming them with a skill set that increases their potential to succeed.
My specialties include advanced skill training in the areas of dribbling, footwork, post-moves, moves attacking off the dribble and fundamental shooting practices. I also specialize in building confidence; something I feel is a vital asset to any player. It was something I struggled with as a younger player so I place a great deal of importance on it. Last but not least I focus on the application of it all. My coaching experience allows me to not only arm athletes with moves and skills but break down how and when they can and should be utilized in real in-game situations.
Each athlete has a specific curriculum created for him or her. Each workout is unique and different from the last and each exercise and workout builds on the previous or sets up the next. I believe structure is key and hard work and Respect for the game is something I preach in every workout.
